Marshall barcode and date-bar stickers

Two stickers carried Marshall's build date after the letter system ended: the barcode label from October 1992 and the date bar from August 1997.

From October 1992 the barcode sticker reads xx-xxxxx-xx: a year, a sequence number and a week. Stickers of this type were used until July 1997.

From August 1997 a printed date bar carries the country letter, the year, the week, a four-digit sequence and a voltage letter, in the form M-YYYY-WW-NNNN-V.

Country letters mark where the amp was made and voltage letters mark the mains variant. Both belong to the same date bar and should be read together with the date.

How to read it
01 / Find the sticker

On the rear of the chassis or the head shell; amps built across the changeover can carry both sticker types.

02 / Read the barcode form first

Two characters for the year, five for the sequence and two for the week in the xx-xxxxx-xx layout.

03 / Or read the date bar

Country letter, year, week, sequence and voltage letter, separated by dashes.

04 / Check the amp against the era

Barcode stickers stop in July 1997 and date bars start in August 1997, which brackets the changeover.
